Being a part of the St.Catharines Athletics could have been a very memorable experience for the members of the 1912 team. Memorable, had lacrosse not been dropped as an official sport for the Stockholm Olympics. Seems plans were underway to send the double-blues not only to the 5th Olympiad, but also on a grand playing tour of Europe to demonstrate to “oldest part of the world what a splendid game this young country really has.” (Field lacrosse had been an official sport at the 1904 and 1908 Olympics and was brought back again as an Olympic demonstration sport in the 1930’s.)
The proposed itinerary of the grand tour was quite ambitious, a remarkable story from the pages of the Daily Standard.

ST.CATHARINES -- The Athletics Lacrosse team stands an excellent chance of being one of the organizations that will go to Sweden for the Olympic games next year, and will make a tour of Europe. The following letter speaks for itself:
Vancouver B.C. Sept 30, ‘11
Mr. Joseph Timmons
Sec. St. Catharines L. Club
St Catharines, Ont.
Dear Sir, -- I received your address from Mr. J. K. Forsyth, of Toronto, who is at present in Vancouver, B.C. with whom I have had some long talks in connection with the following.
My plans are to take two of the champion amateur lacrosse teams to the Olympic games in Sweden, 1912. My idea was to go even further and to tour the main portion of Europe with the teams and show the oldest part of the world what a splendid game this young country really has. I feel confident that Europe will adopt our game, and the trip will be a great advertisement to Canada. I have already secured dates at nearly all the principal cities, and have interested the sporting clubs, etc., in this tour. It is my intention to send my manager on to Europe this winter to make all the final arrangements, so if you are ready to help in this great undertaking, kindly let me know as soon as possible, so that I can arrange for my deputy to call on you before leaving Canada.
Yours very truly,
BROR FLORMAN
