Jr "A" Draft
Jan 8, 1998 It will be anything but dull when the Ontario Lacrosse Association Junior A League sits down to it's annual midget draft in Toronto on Sunday. The reason is the appearance of three veterans ,who bring a jam-packed portfolio of knowledge and experience that,if nothing else ,could provide the tonic league commissioner Dean McLeod of Brampton needs to start the coming season. The 3 are Bob Hanna, Jim Brady and Cam Devine. Hanna, the OLAS' technical director for the last 8 years, has joined the Minto Cup champion Whitby Warriors as general manager. He replaces Brady who held the position for 2 years and is now the GM and head coach of the Burlington Chiefs. Devine is GM of the Orillia Kings, who are moving up from Junior B ranks, where they have been a power for the past decade. He is the all time Jr A points leader as a former member of the Whitby C.B.C. Builders, Minto Cup winners in 1980. Hanna joins head coach Jim Bishop of Whitby. Marty Gallas & Jeff McCombe will be assistant coaches. Brady replaces Ed Comeau who will stay on as assistant coach and already has set his sights on improving the Chiefs defence and scoring. He would also like to add to 7 championship rings he has won including Jr A & B. Stu Findlayson and Gord Pye will handle the Orillia coaching.
